Chelsea will seek to rectify their mini slump against Villa

Chelsea entertains John Terry’s Villa on Wednesday evening at the Bridge (21h30 CAT). This is not the first time John Terry faces Lampard in a dug-out as they faced each last season in the Championship when Lampard was Derby’s coach. Terry got the better of Lampard in the play-off finals at Wembley in May of this year and Villa made a welcome return to the Premier League.

Chelsea lost unexpectedly against West Ham at the Bridge on Saturday and continued a mini-slump when they drew 2-2 against Valencia in Spain last Wednesday. Chelsea, however, still remains in the top four but seemingly way off the pace of log leaders Liverpool. There are now 13 points between Liverpool and Chelsea. Chelsea needs to win on Wednesday to keep the doubters quiet and to remain within striking distance of Man City and Leicester City.

It was clear keeping Giroud out the game this long showed on Saturday as he barely made any difference or convince anyone that he should be the main striker in the absence of Tammy Abraham. It was a rare afternoon of misses even though we dominated the match. Once again, having all the possession in the world and not being able to score counts for nothing in this high pressured league. Chelsea needs goals from their entire team and Kante needs to play in a position that secures a leaky defense at the moment.

In Frank we trust, he is one of us – will ring around the Bridge. He has already shown he can compete at the highest level as a player and from what we have seen over the last two months – he can compete as a manager as well. The team needs us and we need to support them through a mini-slump at the moment.

Come on Chelsea.
