Lets embrace our inner Springbok against Ajax

Chelsea welcomes Ajax to the Bridge on Tuesday evening (22h00 CAT) boosted by their gutsy performance on Saturday evening against Watford, winning 2-1. The win further solidified our position within the top four as Liverpool, Man City and Leicester City are above us in this order. The win on Saturday ensured we have won seven straight away games.

Lamps Frankie Having already beaten Ajax in Amsterdam a fortnight  ago, Chelsea is ready to entrench that performance by winning at home on Tuesday. Against all odds, this young Chelsea side is starting to flex their muscles as they continue to punch against their weight in all competitions. The Chelsea of old could hold their own against anyone in Europe on any given night. And the Bridge has witnessed some incredible matches over the years. But this Chelsea side of 2019 armed with a former hero at the Bridge, Frank Lampard, and Jody Morris are starting to instill that believe, that swagger and signs of steel. Lampard and Morris are certainly instilling their philosophy on the players – young and old. And it is working. It feels like a family where everyone is out there playing for each other and enjoying their football. It feels the gloom and dissatisfaction of Sarriball have been lifted.

Pundits, other teams, coaches are starting to “fear” us again. By cultivating a winning culture Lampard & Morris has energised the fan base across the globe. This is how it should be like, former players becoming managers that can take us further than before. Given that it is still early days, it looks like a new era has finally dawned on Chelsea. Rebuilding for the future with the present in mind. Players who appeared to be in cages are let loose and the way Lampard plays the game has seen players like Jorginho, Kovacic, Abraham, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, even Willian play out of their skin. Giving the youngsters opportunities (regardless of the ban) has provided the Chelsea faithful to witness a new core of players ready to do battle against anyone.

Ajax is a pedigree team and equally Chelsea. Tomorrow evening is another step to lay down the marker for other teams. Chelsea already topping this group – will need to win to continue that aura of invincibility. It can be done and we will need every player to concentrate and believe.

We look forward to a victory against Ajax on Tuesday and all indications are this will happen. “Blue is the colour, football is the game, We’re all together and winning is our aim. So cheer us on through the sun and rain, Cos Chelsea, Chelsea is our name…”
