The race for the Champions League spots continues

Chelsea currently in the fourth spot with a two-point lead over fifth place Manchester United and a three-point lead over sixth-placed Arsenal head into Sunday’s game against new log leaders Manchester City hoping to remain fourth and keep the pressure on Spurs in third place and Liverpool.

Earlier this week, Manchester City’s Guardiola (tongue-in-cheek probably) point out that if Chelsea keeps winning all their remaining games they could still be in the race to win the title this year. Higuain has joined from Juventus via AC Milan during the January transfer window and his two goals over the weekend alongside Hazard’s have given our team the impetus to push on and create a gap between those chasing us. At the moment, getting into the Champions League is a top priority for Sarri. However, if we win the Europa League then that would automatically place us in the champions league for next season, something we did in the 2013/14 season.

After the match against Huddersfield which we won 5-0, Hazard indicated that “we are Chelsea, we can win anyone on the day” and indicated it is not impossible to beat Manchester City again. Chelsea faces the same opponents later this month in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
